There’s a point on Totenreich where the match stops feeling tense and starts feeling rude. Cursed Mode piles on elite zombies, splash damage, and boss attacks that punish one bad step. Plenty of players are jumping between weapon XP grinds, squad attempts, and CoD BO7 Bot Lobbies just to keep progress moving, but this new Zombies setup is getting talked about for a different reason. It lets you stand your ground far longer than the map clearly wants you to. Not forever if you stop paying attention, sure, but close enough that it feels wrong.

Why this build feels so hard to kill

The core of the setup is the Lilly Relic after its recent buff. On paper, it sounds simple. You deal bullet damage, you get health back. In practice, with a packed lane of zombies in front of you, that healing kicks in over and over. Add multi-kills and the relic starts feeding you even harder. It’s not flashy like some wonder weapon trick. It’s just constant recovery, which is exactly what you need when Cursed Mode starts throwing nonsense at your face.

The field upgrade that makes it silly

Frenzied Guard is the piece that turns a strong relic into a real problem for the undead. You’ll want it at Tier IV, because the armor repair on kills is the whole point. When you trigger it, every zombie wants you. That sounds awful, and normally it is. Here, though, it works in your favour. They rush in, you shoot through the crowd, the Lilly Relic tops up your health, and Frenzied Guard patches your armor almost as fast as it gets chipped away. If your ammo and aim hold up, you can sit in damage that would normally end the run.

Getting set up without wasting the run

The early rounds matter more than people think. Stay in spawn through rounds one to six and don’t start opening doors just because you’re bored. Let zombies break in, then use melee finishes where you can. It’s slower for a few minutes, but the essence adds up. Once you’re around 6,000, open the east route toward the Courtyard and leave the upper balcony alone. That skipped route seems to keep some early spawns cleaner, especially the armored types that can ruin a greedy start. After that, hit the Arsenal Room box and look for something with a big magazine. An LMG is ideal, but a fast SMG can do the job if it sprays well.

The staircase spot everyone is using

The Lower Cathedral Staircase is where the whole thing comes together. Don’t run all the way up. Plant yourself about three steps from the bottom landing, tight to the right wall. It feels oddly specific because it is. The pathing squeezes the horde into a narrow push, so they line up instead of wrapping around you. That means more piercing hits, more life-leech, and more armor repair. Keep firing, reload only when you’ve got space, and don’t get cocky with boss effects. Some players still use cheap CoD BO7 Bot Lobbies for easier practice, but this staircase method is the one high-round grinders are testing hard before it gets patched.
